Planning Your Return: Checklist

Planning Your Return: Checklist
Work is just around the corner and you, like many new parents, might be looking back in surprise at how quickly your parental leave has passed! If you haven’t already, then now is the time to start to plan your return.

There are of course some practical things at home that you need to organise like childcare, you may want to read this article on getting childcare right.  You may also want to start thinking about what you need to do to prepare for work and hit the ground running. But what you might not have thought about is preparing yourself for the emotional aspects of returning to work. For many new parents, the idea of handing childcare over to a nursery or carer is one of the hardest and most emotional things they have to do. It’s normal to feel this way and it’s important to recognise and be prepared for it. Take a look at this article about managing that emotional change. On a practical note – trying to be a super parent and super employee at the same time is really hard. So seek out support, get others involved and accept any offers of help!

Try our checklist designed to help you plan a successful transition back to work.
