Sector experience: People management, consulting

Simon is an executive coach with more than 25 years of leadership experience in global financial services and professional services. Simon works with executives stepping into broader leadership roles, leading transformation, managing heightened expectations and adapting their approach as responsibilities evolve. His work also extends to founders and entrepreneurial leaders as they make the shift from operational delivery to broader strategic leadership.

Background & Experience

Before establishing his coaching practice, Simon has been at the heart of leadership in complex, regulated organisations. He began in management consulting at Willis Towers Watson before moving into global financial services, joining UBS in 2001 in a senior people leadership role within the Investment Bank. During his career at UBS he progressed to MD leading teams and transformational change across the group. In 2012, he joined Investec, where he led the People & Organisation function across both the Wealth and Banking divisions, serving in a regulated capacity as a member of the executive committee. This background gives him a deep understanding of the commercial pressures, stakeholder dynamics and leadership demands that shape decision-making at the most senior levels.

Who Simon Works With

Simon works with senior executives and high-potential leaders navigating pivotal career transitions, broader leadership responsibilities and periods of organisational change. He helps strengthen judgement, deepen self-awareness, and lead with greater clarity, resilience and impact.

Coaching Style

Simon’s coaching is grounded in this strong organisational and commercial knowledge. Known for his thoughtful and direct style, Simon creates space for honest reflection while maintaining a clear focus on progress. He helps people to examine their assumptions, relationships and the patterns that maybe shaping their choices, enabling them to lead with greater intention and effectiveness. His approach combines challenge with perspective, helping clients build sharper self-awareness, exercise stronger judgement and be more courageous in their leadership resulting in greater impact for the business. Drawing on his experience across both established institutions and growth-stage businesses, Simon is well placed to support leaders operating in demanding, high-accountability environments.

Both from my personal experience of ECC's approach, and from seeing the impact on our company I can particularly recommend their pragmatic approach and their insight into our collective and individual needs.
Executive Senior Leader
The six sessions I had with my ECC Coach changed my perspective of coaching. I was initially uncertain (and possibly sceptical) about the benefits of coaching but my coach read me very well and knew when to coax a response out from me by being encouraging and when to firmly push me to see the benefits of reframing some of my previously held positions.
