Ming Alsop Lim
Executive Coach
Country: United Kingdom
Sector experience: Energy, financial services and legal.
Background
Ming delights in partnering with individuals to support them in achieving their fullest potential, irrespective of their background. As a coach, she believes deeply in human agency and derives joy in seeing her clients thrive in their professional and personal lives. She has spent a lot of time exploring the best western and eastern traditions about human excellence, and adopts many of her learnings in her coaching practice. Growing up in Singapore and educated in the west, she is comfortable in diverse cultural milieus, and coaches in English and Mandarin.
Before becoming a professional coach, Ming had nearly two decades of international corporate HR experience in talent development, diversity & inclusion, learning & development and competence management. She worked in Singapore, UK, Netherlands, China and Malaysia for Shell International in commercial, operational and leadership roles, and adopts a global and strategic perspective.
In the interest of giving back, she worked for her alma mater Oxford University to launch a mentoring and coaching programme for graduating students.
Coaching Style
Clients describe Ming’s coaching style as intuitive, inspiring and direct. She is always respectful of their needs and vulnerabilities, while supporting them to gain clarity about their complex thought processes. There is extra focus on expanding the clients’ resourceful state, reframing perspectives and encouraging clients to take concrete action steps which are aligned with their strengths, values and vision, while viewing themselves as part of a wider ecosystem of relationships. Where necessary, we investigate their mental saboteurs and self-limiting beliefs, and devise strategies to transcend those obstacles.
“Clients love how I am intuitively drawn to their profound inner resilience as a solution-focused coach. I excel in making them aware of their multiple talents and tapping into their flow states, while gently challenging them to reach deep into their transformational potential.”

Current Clients
My private clients come from Europe, Asia, Middle East and North America. They have wide-ranging professional backgrounds working in corporate multinationals, government/public sector, charities, NGOs, startups or are entrepreneurs.
With ECC I have served clients from: Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, Schroders, JP Morgan, HSBC, Visa, Rothschilds, Moody's, Jupiter Asset Management, BlackRock, Apax Partners, Cazenove Capital, A&O Shearman, Bird & Bird, White & Case, McFarlanes, Akin Gump, Kraft Heinz, Deloitte, Telegraph, Muse Places, Lockton, Deliveroo.
The coaching programme has been a reflective and transformative period for me. We explored many aspects which remained hidden in my blindspot and helped put a framework around them. I do see the organizational landscape through a different lens now and Ming has a lot of contribution in helping me develop that perspective.
Fantastic sessions with Ming, highly recommend to anyone returning after maternity leave or such periods of career pause. It was so important to carve out the time to focus on getting back behind the steering wheel of my own career. Her empathy and application of experience was perfectly timed.
The coaches at ECC are commercial, pragmatic and highly focused. The coaching they provide on an individual basis has given valuable insight and helped our senior executives to gain greater perspective in terms of managing relationships, prioritising, strategic thinking, influencing and confidence.
